Heading into the weekend, I wanted to get the word out on something really unique that we’re doing right now at Colicchio & Sons. We’re shaving white truffles on dishes of your choice for $11 per gram —  well below what restaurants typically charge for truffles of this quality.

For truffle novices out there, here’s a little background on the subject. White truffles are a wild mushroom that grows only in specific forests throughout the world, and they’re collected throughout the autumn by truffle hunters using specially trained pigs and dogs. The highest quality white truffles come from the Piedmont region in northern Italy, and that’s where ours originated. White truffles are considered to be one of the world’s ultimate culinary delicacies.

So why are we offering them at a special price? Because they’re a unique luxury that I think everyone should have the chance to try at least once in their life, and white truffles are rarely available to consumers at affordable prices in a restaurant setting, or in good quality at retail outlets. So, if you’ve been wanting to see what all the fuss is about, this is the best chance you’ll ever get.

If you’re planning on taking us up on this offer, I recommend shaving white truffle over the Gnocchi, Risotto and Pumpkin Ravioli dishes in the Main Dining Room and the Ricotta Pizza in the Tap Room. It’s also unbeatable on the Soft Scrambled Eggs at Brunch. For real truffle enthusiasts, you’re also welcome to buy a whole truffle for your table and pair it with your entire meal.
